La Mezquita de Cordoba

Today, our class went to the famous Mezquita in Cordoba, Spain. We met at the Patio de Naranjas, this patio is right outside of the Mezquita. In the Mezquita, we looked at the different recyxled pillars of the building. We noticed that the pillars, since they are recycled, are used by different material like marble, granite, and stone. The Mezquita was not made in a single day though, a man retreated to Cordoba from a hostile environment and started building this building from recycled roman materials. It took this man one year to finish the first part of the building. Then the building kept expanding and expanding. The building was extended 5 times in total in addition to the original part. after we toured the whole Mezquita, we visited the Cathedral inside the Mezquita. Some time after the people who built the original Mezquita, Christians were pushing the Muslims out of Spain and in Cordoba, instead of demolishing the original building, they just put their cathedral in the middle of it. After the whole tour we left and went to a small plaza where you can see the tower of the Mezquita, this tower has also been rebuilt.

Hoy, nuestra clase fue a la famosa Mezquita de Córdoba, España. Nos reunimos en el Patio de Naranjas, este patio está justo afuera de la Mezquita. En la Mezquita, observamos los diferentes pilares reciclados del edificio. Notamos que los pilares, ya que están reciclados, son utilizados por diferentes materiales como el mármol, el granito y la piedra. Sin embargo, la Mezquita no se hizo en un solo día, un hombre se retiró a Córdoba de un ambiente hostil y comenzó a construir este edificio con materiales romanos reciclados. A este hombre le tomó un año terminar la primera parte del edificio. Entonces el edificio siguió expandiéndose y expandiéndose. El edificio fue ampliado 5 veces en total, además de la parte original. Después de recorrer toda la Mezquita, visitamos la Catedral dentro de la Mezquita. Algún tiempo después de la gente que construyó la Mezquita original, los cristianos expulsaron a los musulmanes de España y de Córdoba, en lugar de demoler el edificio original, simplemente pusieron su catedral en el medio. Después de todo el recorrido salimos y nos dirigimos a una pequeña plaza donde se puede ver la torre de la Mezquita, esta torre también ha sido reconstruida.
