Last week we went on a trip to see the legendary city of Medina Azahara, this city would house the Caliph and meant to house future Caliphs. The city is 8 km from Cordoba, where we are staying. Once we got to the forgotten city, the tour started at the vary top of it where the Caliph would stay. He would stay at the top because he could watch over the rest of his residents and also be able to see Cordoba from his balcony. After staring at the top of the city, we walked as far down as we could go due to the city being excavated still. We saw the largest gate to the city on the eastern side. This gate was a meeting place and the most used gate into Medina. The city was a really cool experience because there is so much history there. The city used to house some of the most important people in the history of Spain. I think that seeing places with so much history is extremely interesting and fun to learn and remember those who came before us.
La semana pasada hicimos un viaje para ver la legendaria ciudad de Medina Azahara, esta ciudad albergaría al Califa y tenía la intención de albergar futuros Califas. La ciudad está a 8 km de Córdoba, donde nos alojamos. Una vez que llegamos a la ciudad olvidada, el recorrido comenzó en la parte superior variable donde se alojaría el Califa. Se quedaría en la cima porque podría vigilar al resto de sus residentes y también podría ver a Córdoba desde su balcón. Después de mirar a la parte superior de la ciudad, caminamos lo más abajo posible debido a que la ciudad aún está excavada. Vimos la puerta más grande de la ciudad en el lado este. Esta puerta era un lugar de encuentro y la puerta más utilizada en Medina. La ciudad fue una experiencia genial porque hay mucha historia allí. La ciudad solía albergar a algunas de las personas más importantes de la historia de España. Creo que ver lugares con tanta historia es extremadamente interesante y divertido de aprender y recordar a los que vinieron antes que nosotros.
